Woman Struck by Train Near New Bridge Train Station

A pedestrian was struck by a Pascack Valley line train shortly after 4pm Tuesday afternoon

All trains along the Pascack Valley line were prevously suspended from the New Bridge Landing station in River Edge up to Spring Valley, NY after a pedestrian was struck by a westbound train Tuesday afternoon. As of 6pm, service north of New Bridge Landing has resumed and is experiencing 15 to 20 minute delays.

According to New Jersey Transit Spokesperson Nancy Snyder, the woman was struck on the west side of the train tracks but was not walking at a grade crossing. The woman, who is alive, was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center.

"There were 45 customers on the train, none of whom were injured in the accident," Snyder said. "All transit passengers will be transported to all stops along the Pascack Valley line by New Jersey Transit buses."

No additional information was currently available about the victim and NJ Transit police are currently investigating the accident.

NJ Transit will be cross honoring all rail passes for NJ Transit buses out of the Port Authority Bus Terminal and along the Pascack Valley Line.
