Agreed Frank, I've always elected to go to Paramus Park because there are less out of state/town patrons plus less people in general. I will go less than the little I go now if and when this theater goes through. Seriously weighing my options now that I'm done with the schools.

Frank, I was hesitant to say it, but thank you for pointing that out. Sharing the profits of Paramus with surrounding towns sounds a lot like what I hear from our current presidential administration, "the rich must pay their fair share". Sadly this ideology is working it's way into America's mind set.

ReplyReading all these comments I believe the consensus is that Bergen County's Blue Law needs to be amended to allow each town to adapt their own version. Additionally there is much stress from the side that wants the Blue Law abolished for the side that wants to keep the Blue Law to adapt to changing time. However, those same people are not willing to adapt their beliefs to changing times. Just an observation from a person that has lived both ends of this subject. And enjoys what we currently have in Bergen. And no, I do not live in Paramus. As I have always been told, "be careful for what you wish for".

ReplyI use to live in Monmouth County and traffic was terrible 7 days a week between commuters on weekdays and shoppers on weekends. After moving to Bergen County it's been such a pleasure to move about without heavy congestion one day a week. I knew what I was moving into and have no problems keeping the blue law. BTW, why are there so many people blaming Paramus for a county law? Lastly, I hear so many folks say they like Short Hills mall better than Paramus malls and Paterson's industrial park for lower taxes. Aren't these places outside of Bergen County?

ReplyPlease do something with all these idiots on the road! Throw in points too! Everyday I am surrounded by distracted drivers texting, emailing or talking on the phone while changing lanes without signaling. Then I get the bird when I honk them or when they almost rear end me?

Good luck. Whether you cut the budget or vote the budget down, the mayor and council will find a way to overturn the voice of the voters or our children will be given 4 or 5 Study Hall periods because the budget was slashed. Then our children will be roaming the roads and mall for hours during school hours with those expense laptops in their lockers.

ReplyWake up River Edge residence. The towns uncontrolled spending plus it's inability to revitalize the town for the exception of more residental rentals so more children can attend out schools will only drive taxes higher. All these higher school budget approvals have given the residences higher taxes and lower school rankings. Guess we'll be seeing a lot of For Sale signs popping up on lawns along with flowers this spring.

In River Edge, developers want to build multi unit housing that stresses the school system. Lack of adequate commercial space and poor road access limits the towns ratable revenue. Good luck Frank.
