Team Farrell Returns with Greater Numbers to River Edge Run

Over 200 runners joined Team Farrell in the River Edge Run last year in memory of Steve Farrell. The team is expected to be even larger this year.

While the pain of losing a father and husband may never fully go away, the Farrell family in River Edge are once again organizing one of the largest groups of runners for the annual River Edge Run as Team Farrell and The Melanoma Research Foundation join forces to raise funds for melanoma research in memory of Stephen Farrell. Farrell, who lost his fight with melanoma cancer in 2010, was a vibrant, active member of the community serving as a volunteer coach for the River Edge Recreation Basketball, AAU Basketball, River Dell Soccer, River Dell Blackhawks, River Edge Little League, Regal Basketball, and Softball teams. Runners Raise Awareness and Funds for Melanoma Research

Annual River Edge Run reached a new record with 694 participants this year

Over the weekend, runners from across town, Bergen County and around the country took to the streets of River Edge in the 31st Annual River Edge Run. The event reached a new record this year with 694 participants while raising money towards a new playground area near the Little League fields and for the  Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research  in memory of Steve Farrell. Team Farrell clad in green t-shirts for the run raised $17,476 for Melanoma Research. This year Solomon Too of New Milford completed the 5K race in 16:10 as the first place overall finisher. He was paced by Alan Wells of Orlando, Fla. Athletic Community Bands Together In Memory of Coach

Members of the high school lacrosse and wrestling teams and youth Blackhawks will participate in the River Edge Run alongside the Farrell family

It's been almost two years since Stephen Farrell of River Edge lost his fight with melanoma cancer. Diagnosed in 1998, he spent many years dedicating his life to his children and the RiverDell youth by coaching various athletic leagues from soccer, basketball, baseball and softball. This year, Farrell's family along with members from the Regional high school boys lacrosse and wrestling teams along with the youth Blackhawks will participate in the River Edge Run in his honor while raising funds for the Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research. Running to the Finish Line for Cancer Research

Annual River Edge Run returns on April 21

The River Edge Recreation Commission has announced that the 31th Annual River Edge Run will be held on Saturday, April 21. And once again, Freedom Bank of Oradell will be one of the many sponsors for the 5K run and Healthwalk. Last year, the event raised over $8,000 for the borough's park projects such as an upcoming new playground area near the Little League fields This year, the Recreation Commission is teaming up with the Susan Fazio Foundation for Melanoma Research so as to assist in their fundraising efforts this year. The Commission welcomes those who wish to raise funds in honor of someone who has faced the devastations of melanoma, according to Recreation Director Bobbi Conway.  “It is a great honor for Freedom Bank to once again …
