Teaneck Men Face Charges in String of Burglaries

Prosecutor says burglary tools, suspected stolen goods found in township man’s home; River Edge police part of county-led investigative task force.

Authorities have charged two Teaneck men suspected in a string of daytime burglaries at homes in Bergen County and Connecticut, the county prosecutor’s office said Monday. A task force of investigators had 25-year-old Shakir Major under surveillance May 21 when he drove from Teaneck to Oxford Drive in Tenafly early that afternoon, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in a statement. Minutes after Major pulled away, Tenafly police discovered an area home had been burglarized. Detectives caught Major in Dumont, where he was arrested without incident, according to Molinelli. River Edge Cops to Ride in Annual PD Unity Tour

Sgt. Bob Daly and Officer Marc Abate will bike over 300 miles in memory of fallen brothers

After riding over 300 miles last year in honor of fallen police officers, River Edge Police Sgt. Bob Daly and Officer Marc Abate are again preparing to take part in the Police Unity Tour and raise awareness of Line of Duty deaths. This year, Abate will again ride with members from Chapter 37, which will start their ride from the World Trade Center, while Daly returns to Chapter 1 and starts from Florham Park. "Bob's and my chapters are significant," Abate said. "Bob is part of the original chapter that was formed by Patrick Montuore in Florham Park who is now the current chief. Sex Abuse of Teen Charges Filed Against Health Aide

A 30-year-old Paterson resident, employed by a Paramus health care services company, is accused of sexual contact and endangerment of River Edge 15-year-old girl.

A home health aide from Paterson was charged Friday for allegedly sexually abusing a 15-year-old River Edge girl while being employed in the family's residence. Grady Brown, 30, was arrested by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit and River Edge Police in Paramus where he works. Brown is a health aide with Loving Hands Health Care Services. According to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli, Brown was serving as a health aide in the victim's home for an adult male family member for approximately one year. "While in the home, he is alleged to have touched the female on a number of occasions in a sexual manner," Molinelli stated in a press release. RDHS Discovers Violent Threat, Increased Police Presence Instituted

One day before the Newtown, Ct shooting, River Dell High School discovered an alleged threat in a restroom

All this week, students and faculty members along with parents will see an increased police presence at the Regional High School as law enforcement investigates a potential threat that was discovered in a school restroom, one day before the Newtown, Ct., school shooting.  The alleged threat, indicated that a student would come to class on Friday, Dec. 21 with the intention of violence. Several parents contacted Patch stating that the alleged threat included the use of a firearm. State Report Reveals Minor Changes in RiverDell Crimes Statistics

The 2011 Uniform Crime Report showed a decrease in Oradell crimes but a slight increase in River Edge

Over the past three years, crime statistics in the River Dell area have continued to drop off in Oradell, but this year River Edge saw a slight uptick in its reported incidents. The New Jersey State Police released its 2011 Uniform Crime Report on Friday with statewide criminal reports rising 3-percent from 2010 to 2011. According to the report, Oradell had 50 reported incidents in 2011, down from the prior year's 82 reports while River Edge had two additional incidents this past year for a total 110 reports. As part of the 2009 report, Oradell has seen an increase in the Crime Index Total from 48 incidents in 2008 to 68 in 2009. River Edge saw a decrease from 103 incidents in 2008 to 77 in 2009. River Spa Worker Charged With Prostitution

Alleged incident took place at a River Edge Road spa and acupressure business

River Edge Police arrested an Edison woman Tuesday afternoon for allegedly engaging in prostitution at a River Edge Road spa, police said. Yulan Liu, 52, of Edison was charged with one count of prostutition following a joint investigation between the River Edge Police and Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, according to Police Chief Thomas Cariddi. Cariddi stated that the REPD's investigation led them to River Spa Acupressure, which opened last month. Liu was released pending a court hearing.

Ex-girlfriend in Connecticut State Police Custody on Double Homicide Charges

Connecticut State Police took Monica Mogg into custody Wednesday afternoon for her alleged role in a double homicide in River Edge

A 49-year-old Newburgh, NY resident has been arrested in Connecticut in connection to a double homicide_in River Edge. Monica Mogg, is the former girlfriend of one of the victims, Arthur Noeldechan, 52, of Washingtonville, NY. She was charged with two counts of first degree murder and arraigned in Hartford Superior Court on Thursday. "On Wednesday Oct. 31 at approximately 2:21 p.m., the River Edge Police Department was requested to conduct a welfare check on the residence of 784 Millbrook Road," Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli stated in a press release. Ex-Girlfriend Arrested in Connecticut for River Edge Double Homicide

River Edge Police, Prosecutor's Office are investing a double homicide on Millbrook Road after two bodies were found

Authorities have arrested and charged an ex-girlfriend in connection with a double homicide after the bodies of a former boyfriend and another woman were found inside a River Edge home Wednesday afternoon. Monica Mogg, 49, who is believed to be the 52-year-old male victim's former girlfriend, was arrested in Connecticut, and now faces two counts of murder. River Edge Police and the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office descended upon the 700 block of Millbrook Road after the discovery of the two bodies inside the home. The other victim was a 42-year-old woman.  Both are believed to have been shot and stabbed, although no weapons have been found, authorities said.  The victims' names were not released, as the families have yet to be notified, …

River Edge Remembers 9/11 First Responders through Memorial Dedication

After receiving a steel I-beam 11 months ago, River Edge officially dedicated its First Responder's Emergency Memorial outside of Borough Hall

Eleven years have passed since the World Trade Center towers came down and River Edge lost five residents. It's been 11 months since a steel I-beam from one of the towers was brought to the borough for a First Responder's Memorial outside of borough hall - the Memorial was dedicated Tuesday afternoon as residents, friends, family and volunteers crowded together in memory. "FDR referred to Dec. 7, 1941 as a 'date which would live in infamy' and Sept. 11, 2001 is our generations Dec. 7," River Edge PBA member and Police Officer Joseph Starost said. Emergency Responders Memorial Dedication Coming This Month

The River Edge First Responder's Memorial featuring a World Trade Center steel beam will be dedicated this month

Eleven months ago, members of the River Edge Fire, Police, and Ambulance traversed their way to a JFK Airport hanger and back with a steel I-beam from the World Trade Center courtesy of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey as a way to remember those emergency service responders who also lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. This month, the Local PBA 201's First Responder's Memorial will be dedicated in their honor after months of preparation. The $8,000 memorial, completely funded through donations and the PBA, calls for a design plans created by Let It Grow where the 16-foot long steel I-beam runs vertically to display the cut out cross outside of borough hall.
