Powerball Jackpot Soars to $600M for Saturday Drawing
If you draw the Powerball winning numbers in Saturday’s lottery, you could score $600 million, the largest Powerball jackpot ever.
Powerball results were watched closely Wednesday when the jackpot was $363 million. After no one picked all six winning numbers, the new Powerball prize for the Saturday, May 18, drawing is now $600 million, which makes it the highest Powerball jackpot ever — and the second-highest U.S. lottery jackpot. The one-time cash payout is estimated at $376.9 million. Tickets are $2 and the game is played in New Jersey and 42 other states, including New York, Florida, Texas and California. Tickets will be sold up to an hour before the 11 p.m. drawing. The largest Powerball Jackpot cash payout to date was a $384 million win on Nov. 28, 2012, in Arizona and Missouri. I have no problem with "Captains of Industry" being exclusive about the cultural criteria by which they judge others. Meritocracy is a good ideal. I don't like seeing it undermined. My issue is that a lottery winner clearly isn't a "Captain of Industry."
