The tragic tale of a 22-year-old aspiring fashion designer who took her own life by jumping from the George Washington Bridge on Wednesday —allegedly a victim of bullying, according to the NY Post — has attracted widespread attention on social networking sites. A Fair Lawn man was arrested this week after he allegedly broke into his roommate's secured bedroom, stole his roommate's credit cards and identification, and used them to make fraudulent purchases, police said. Two Paterson men and one woman from North Haledon were arrested Friday night after orchestrating a plot to rob the woman's boss — the owner of a popular Wyckoff pizzeria — but failing after a gun accidentally discharged in front of the business owner's home, according to police.  A deaf and elderly dachshund disappeared on Christmas Eve from Paula Gilligan's Glen Rock yard and remains missing. The owner suspects the dog — not known to take off — was snatched. A man wearing a ski mask and brandishing an automatic handgun robbed a Franklin Lakes GameStop Wednesday night, according to police.  This robbery was the second in just over a year at the popular Franklin Crossing Shopping Center electronics franchise.   Police are looking for two …

A fire at a Grove Street house in Ridgewood destroyed a kitchen, but all members of the family were unharmed, though shaken. Two cats were rescued after a stove-top fire engulfed a Grove Street kitchen late Wednesday morning in Ridgewood. John Ferrito was in transit when he received the call from his wife. There had been a kitchen fire, his wife said. The Hackensack Univeristy Medical Center employee rushed home. His wife Michele and 17-year-old daughter Katie were shaken up but uninjured. The lover of a Wyckoff woman charged with luring her ex-boyfriend to a schoolyard for a savage beating and robbery was arrested Friday for allegedly carrying out the pummeling, police said late Friday. Daniel A. Chaupiz, 20, of Crescent Avenue, was arrested at his Wyckoff residence hours after police claim girlfriend Margaux Tocci orchestrated a conspiracy with several men to beat a 19-year-old Ridgewood resident at Lincoln School with a baseball bat and a pipe Thursday night. A woman was fatally struck by an NJ Transit train Tuesday at 9:10 a.m., about 400 feet west of the Broadway-Fair Lawn Station, an NJ Transit spokeswoman said. Ridgewood Sanitation Department employee Damien Hamlin received more than 30 stitches Monday morning after dropping a porcelain toilet that shattered and sliced up his thigh. Fort Lee police are searching for a man they say swiped $700 from a local gas station and mini-mart early Monday morning after asking the attendant for a pack of cigarettes and then pointing a gun at him and demanding cash from the register. Andy, normally I would agree with the position of power aspects, but she was a girls' softball coach, not a teacher in his school. IF he was 17, I am not sure this is a crime. It maybe a violation of her employment agreement, but she isn't a teacher in his school.   more ›
