The Week Ahead in River Edge and Oradell

River Edge The River Edge Mayor and Council will be meeting Monday in the council chambers of Borough Hall. The work session begins at 7pm and the public session begins at 8pm.  River Edge, Oradell, New Milford Rotary Club will be meeting Tuesday at Cool Beans, 304 Kinderkamack Rd, Oradell at 12:15 pm. The Zoning Board of Adjustment will be meeting on Wednesday at 8pm. Neighbors helping Neighbors - Career Transition Support and Networking group ( CTSN ) will be meeting at the River Edge Public Library at 7 pm. The River Edge Beautification Committee will be meeting on Thursday at 8pm in the PSB meeting room--2nd floor. The Week Ahead in River Edge and Oradell

Governor hosting Town Hall Meeting in Bergenfield. Governor Chris Christie is hosting an open town hall meeting Tuesday in Bergenfield at Conlon Hall, St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 19 North William St. Doors open at 2 pm and the meeting will begin at 3 pm. The public is invited to attend, but seating is limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. No bags of any kind are permitted in the venue. Personal items are subject to search. Planning Board Hears Application for Kinderkamack Road Restaurant This Week

MONDAY: Grant writer Marlene Casey of Capital Alternatives will discuss potential grant opportunities with the River Edge Mayor and Council durings its 7pm work session. The governing body will introduce a smoking ban ordinance at its 8pm regular meeting for all borough parks. At 8pm, the Regional Board of Education will meet in the High School Media Center to approve the ongoing co-op hockey and swimming program with Westwood Regional and renovations at the Middle School for a boys restroom and girls locker room. The Board may also discuss the recent Academic Performance reports that were released by the state last week. TUESDAY: The River Dell PTO meets in the High School Media Center at 7pm. Oradell to Debate United Way Project This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in RiverDell this week

MONDAY: All public schools are closed this week for spring break.  TUESDAY: The Oradell Mayor and Council will continue discussing United Way's proposal for Special Needs Housing on Kinderkamack Road during its 7pm work session. Their discussion will focus on an analysis provided by borough planner Joseph Burgis. United Way is seeking to purchase the under utilized borough parking lot on the main thoroughfaire between Mackay and Winne avenues and just below Meyerhoff Place and construct four special needs housings similar to their Allendale projects Cresent Commons (24 residents) and Orchard Commons (10 residents). Another thought. River Edge has a problem with allowing a developer to place Duplexes on Park Ave. The property on Park Ave may be well suited for a group home. Let us keep Oradell's and River Edge's own developmentally disabled residents in thier own/adjacent town. I see it as a win/win situation. Let us take care of our own. Let us keep our families close. Duplex Ordinance Goes to Final Hearing and Possible Vote This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in RiverDell this week

MONDAY: During the 8pm regular meeting, the River Edge governing body will hold an open hearing on the 2013 municipal budget. However, the largest item on the agenda will deal with the second reading and possible vote on the proposed conditional zone change to Park Avenue and allow the construction of duplexes. The council will need a super majority vote to approve the change. TUESDAY: The Oradell Planning Board is scheduled to meet at 7:30pm. WEDNESDAY: The River Edge Board of Education meets at 7:30pm at Roosevelt School to approve the architecture firm Dicara and Rubino to update the Long Range Facilty plan. Developer's Agreement for Huffman Koos and Elementary School Budgets Coming This Week

MONDAY: The River Edge Mayor and Council meet at 7pm for a work session to approve a developers agreement for the development of the former Huffman Koos site. Also architect Peter Pulice will discuss the library roof replacement project. TUESDAY: All offices at Temple Avodat Shalom  are closed today as synagogue members observe Pesach (Passover). Rabbi Neal Borovitz will lead services at 10am. WEDNESDAY: The Oradell Mayor and Council are meeting at 7pm. Both the River Edge and Oradell school boards will hold public hearings on their 2013-14 school year budgets at 7:30pm. MONDAY: The River Edge Mayor and Council meet at 7pm work session where the governing body will discuss creating an honorary street sign dedicated to Cherry Hill crossing guard and local veteran Joe Maugeri. The 8pm regular meeting will include a public hearing on utilizing $10,000 towards sidewalk repairs and replacements following damage caused by Superstorm Sandy. TUESDAY: The Williams College Elizabethan Renaissance a cappella choir will entertain all at the Oradell Public Library, 7pm. This widely sought-after Renaissance a cappella choral group is a student-run madrigal group comprised of nine members that will perform a mix of Renaissance fare, folk, spiritual, traditional, and pop music. TUESDAY: The Oradell Mayor and Council's 7pm work session is expected to include a presentation by Marlboro officials on how to boost economic development while promoting shopping local at smal businesses. How about hearing what the local businesses/residents think? - increase parking availability - loosening up some of the rules about types of businesses/hours of operations - and decrease the speed on Kinderkamack Road - moms don't want to shop on this road because they do not feel safe crossing the street. School Budgets to be Introduced This Week

MONDAY: The River Edge Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session and 8pm regular meeting. During the work session the Council will continue discussions on what to do with the former Grove Street DPW lot and progress on replacing the borough's damaged sidewalk slabs. At 8pm, the River Dell Board of Education will introduce their 2013-14 school budget. TUESDAY: The Oradell Planning Board is currently scheduled to meet at 7:30pm. WEDNESDAY: The River Edge Board of Education will introduce their 2013-14 school budget at 7:30pm at Roosevelt School.
