Head to your local library this summer and pick up one of these hot summer reads
Grab a glass of watermelon lemonade and check out these environmental beach reads, available at our local libraries. Take them to the beach, bring them to camp, or add a new dimension to the summer book club. Elizabeth Royte's Garbage Land - On The Secret Trail of Trash goes beyond the fascinating and horrifying statistical analysis of how big a hole humanity has dug for itself, by supersizing earth's garbage dumps through gross consumption. Last week marked the end of school for many elementary schools and with it, summer! Embrace running in the streets, enjoy the county fair and swim at your local pool. But when the weather gets too hot and your feet too sore, the adventure doesn’t have to stop. Many Bergen County Public Libraries are hosting the Dream Big-Read! reading program this summer. Dream Big-Read! provides children with book logs to keep track of summer reading and participating libraries will host a variety of reading club get-togethers and events available to all ages! Annual Summer reading program registration kicks off June 22
Join the River Edge and Oradell Public Libraries for the annual summer reading program beginning on June 25th. Readers from preschool through grade 6 are welcome to celebrate the theme, Dream Big - Read! with great programs and reading rewards. There will be a Special Registration Day with some surprises on Friday, June 22, 1:30 to 3:30pm outside (weather permitting) for River Edge children. Oradell children can register on June 25. Registration for the River Dell students book discussion group, Talk It Up 2012, will be held at the River Edge Library on Monday, June 25, 5:30 to 7:30 pm and Tuesday, June 26, 2 to 4pm.
