Warmer weather is just around the corner, but first River Dell got hit with one final snowstorm
Beginning this weekend, RiverDell should start seeing temperatures ranging around 50-degrees as winter roared one final time on Friday with its final snow storm of the season. The snow, which may turn to rain late on Friday, is expected to continue until 4pm and may add an additional inch or two on the ground. The River Dell area remained under a winter weather advisory until 1pm, according to the National Weather Service, along with winds of 15 to 25mph and gusts up to 40mph. However, driving conditions could be hazardous throughout the day due to limited visibilty from the large wet snow flakes, winds gusts and the potential for ice on the roads. Forecasts predict three inches or more could fall
Don’t put away your shovels and driveway salt just yet. Forecasters say another snowstorm is headed to the area Wednesday night, and it could drop several inches on RiverDell. According to the National Weather Service, three inches or more could fall Wednesday night into Thursday. Snow is expected to start around 9 p.m. Wednesday and last through noon Thursday. Public and parochial schools plan early dismissal for Friday, Feb. 8 due to the winter storm warning.
With more than 12 inches of snow predicted Friday into Saturday, all RiverDell area public schools are planning ahead by having an early dismissal for all schools on Feb. 8 according to each district's website. River Dell Regional will close at 12:10pm, Oradell Public School will close at 12:13pm, and Cherry Hill, Roosevelt and New Bridge Center students will be dismissed at 12:4pm. St. Joseph School will close at noon and has cancelled its aftercare program, while St. Peter Academy is set to close at 12:30pm and has also cancelled both aftercare and afternoon chess club. Bergen Catholic is currently open but has announced all weekend athletics are postponed until further notice. All River Dell athletics have been rescheduled to next week…

A blizzard warning has been issued for eastern Bergen County starting early Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulation of 10 to 14 inches is possible along with wind gusts up to 45 mph, theweather service said. The heaviest snow is expected to hit Friday evening into Saturday morning, forecasters said. Visibility of one quarter mile or less is possible at times. The weather service warned of the potential for treacherous driving conditions and localized power outages brought on by the winter storm.
