Police: River Edge Hit By String of Vehicle Break-ins
28 unlocked vehicles were entered in one night
Overnight on Oct. 21 into the early morning of Oct. 22, River Edge Police recieved 28 reports that vehicles left unlocked either in the driveway or parked on the street in the southern end of town had been entered. During the night items that were taken included loose change, iPods, GPS navigation systems, laptops, cameras, wallets and pocket books and sun glasses. Patrols cars were sent into the area, at which point Officer Marc DeYoung located several items dropped between two vehicles in a driveway. According to Lt. Michael Walker, the thieves may have been scared off and had left the items behind. The recovered items were processed for evidence and the River Edge Police Department is currently awaiting results.
