New MyTix app for Android and iPhone launched for the Pascack Valley and Meadowlands Rail lines on Thursday.
The modern cell phone is a versatile device commonly used as a camera, a radio and now... a train ticket? Sure, why not. NJ Transit unveiled a pilot program Thursday on select service lines that would enable commuters to purchase tickets and monthly passes anytime, anywhere. “Giving customers the ability to purchase and display rail tickets right from their phones will make traveling on NJ Transit trains even more convenient for the customers who use our system every day,” said Transportation Commissioner and NJ Transit Board Chairman James Simpson. “Although the initial pilot is for our Pascack Valley and Meadowlands Rail Line customers, our ultimate goal is to put this technology into the hands of all of our rail customers.” The MyTix …

A new customer satisfaction survey of New Jersey Transit customer’s post-Superstorm Sandy has overwhelmingly endorsed the job the agency has been doing, according to an announcement by the Christie administration and the agency Tuesday. In the online survey conducted Feb. 4 through February 25, or during the third quarter of the agency’s fiscal year, nearly four in five customers, or nearly 14,000 participants on the agency's website (njtransit.com) said they would recommend NJ Transit to a friend or relative. The results mark a new high for the statewide public transit agency. The survey asked bus, rail, light rail and Access Link customers to rate the agency on a scale of 0 to 10 and asked riders to also consider 41 attributes of the …

NJ Transit is raising the fares at some of its Pascack Valley, Main and Bergen County line stations.
NJ Transit is raising the fares at 16 of its train stations March 1, according to an advisory posted on their website. The increase will affect only the off-peak round trip rides from the Oradell train stations. A single ride to Hoboken from Oradell will cost $8.25 and a single ride to Penn Station will cost $9.25. A full fare chart is available on the NJ Transit website here. The increase is coming because of a rate increase on Metro-North trains. The two lines have an agreement to keep fares consistent, though this has caused some stations on the Pascack Valley and Main/Bergen lines to have lower fares than on other NJ Transit lines, according to the advisory. Metro-North reimburses NJ Transit for the difference.
