Proposed River Edge Museum Remains Work in Progress

The Bergen County Historical Society has proposed constructing a museum at New Bridge Landing. To date the Society has raised $130,000 through private donations towards the museum project

While the fight over state funding continues between the Bergen County Historical Society and the Department of Environmental Protection, preliminary plans to construct a $350,000 museum at New Bridge Landing (NBL) remains a work in progress. To date the Society has raised $130,000 towards the construction of an 18th century Dutch barn replica that would house the Society's many artifacts which haven been placed in storage since the April 2007 Nor'easter. " Fundraising is going well," NBL Park Commission secretary Kevin Wright said. "We've raised $130,000 to date, almost entirely from small donations. DEP, Government Officials Vow to Preserve New Bridge Landing

Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg cites recent loss of Zabriskie home as impetus to preserve New Bridge Landing

Over the years, New Bridge Landing and its historic houses have survived most of the Revolutionary War, the rising of the Hackensack River, and new development in surrounding towns River Edge, Teaneck and New Milford. And on Wednesday, the historic landmark in Bergen County may have seen the sowing of seeds towards its preservation as the state Department of Environmental Protection representatives and government officials vowed to begin working together and resolving their past issues. Hi Deborah and Kevin, that's fabulous. Can they still do that. Why not write to Loretta Weinberg. My concern is the "tasteless" office buidiings in that neighborhood. They look horrible and certainly do not look very historic. I also hope tne new Mac will not make things even worse. We need to rbring people together to re-develop HNBL and RE. Weinberg Sees Potential Tourist Attraction in Historic Site

Senator calls bipartisan meeting to explore future of New Bridge Landing.

Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg has called a gathering of local and state officials set for Wednesday to tour Steuben House at Historic New Bridge Landing and discuss the site's future.  In a letter to officials, Weinberg said the historic site could be an area attraction.  "I think we all agree that Historic New Bridge Landing has the potential to be a star tourist attraction and economic engine in our County – but as of yet, it has not reached that full potential," Weinberg said in the letter to officials.  "At this meeting we will tour the site and discuss the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s role as it pertains to the future of Historic New Bridge Landing," the letter said.  Mayors from Teaneck, New Milford and River…
