Church Honors Good Work of Local Girl Scouts

St. Joseph Church of Oradell and New Milford celebrated the 100th birthday of the Girl Scouts of America

While numerous Girl Scout troops across Northern New Jersey took part in a "bridging" ceremony in November as part of the 100th Anniversary of the organization, St. Joseph Church of Oradell and New Milford took things a step further and hosted Mass in their honor. Members of the Oradell Girl Scouts who attend the Oradell and River Dell school systems, St. Joseph School, and various parochial high schools were invited to attend the Girl Scout Sunday Mass to commemorate the 100th anniversary. There are over 400 girls in the Oradell Girl Scouts. Founder Juliette "Daisy" Gordon Low organized the first Girl Scout meeting on March 12, 1912 when 18 girls in Savannah, Georgia gathered together.
