Ironmen Explode on the Court and Decimate Crusaders Shot at Win

In the 101st meeting of arch rivals Don Bosco and Bergen Catholic on the court, Bosco came out on top, 67-54

ORADELL— With 35 seconds remaining, Don Bosco forward Dajon Toddmann came running into the paint from the wing as teammate John Landro hit him with a pass, and the former slammed it home for a final exclamation point. Bergen Catholic (2-1) hung around, but turnovers and missed free throws did the Crusaders in, as they fell to visiting rival Don Bosco 67-54 in Big North United action in the 101st meeting between the teams. The game was fast paced as both teams displayed explosive quickness running up and down the floor. “You’ve got to be precise and you’ve got to be detailed,” said BC’s first-year head coach Billy Armstrong. “When you’re not, good teams make you pay for it – and that’s what happened. Doing the Little Things Puts May Above the Rest

2007 River Dell graduate Alyssa May took her skills from the court and now applies them to business

Former River Dell standout Alyssa May graduated from the regional district as an extremely accomplished two-sport student-athlete. May excelled on the volleyball court as well as the basketball court. She scored 2,157 points, pulled down 1,067 rebounds, and dished out 675 assists—all school records. The Oradell native helped the Lady Hawks capture two North 1, Group 2 state sectional titles. May was an all-league, all-Bergen County, and all-state point guard. She was the North Jersey Player of the Year in 2006 and 2007. She led the volleyball team to the state semifinal, and was an all-league and all-county selection during her tenure as a setter. Yet despite all the accolades, May, a 2007 River Dell graduate, never let the superstardom go…

River Dell Falls on the Road to Fort Lee 51-45

The Golden Hawks rally comes up short in the final minutes.

Senior forward Brian McGoey scored a team-high 14 points but the River Dell Golden Hawks lost to the Fort Lee Bridgemen 51-45 on Wednesday night.   River Dell felt the pressure early as the Bridgemen utilized a full court defense to increase the tempo, force turnovers and establish a 10-2 lead. “We got down in the first quarter and we had to fight our way back,” said River Dell head coach Brian Long. “We weren’t scoring the ball on our end.” But the Golden Hawks would pick up their scoring at the start of the second quarter.
