Abe Lincoln "Tired" 150 Years Later
Veteran's weekend events kick off early at New Bridge Landing
On this day, Nov. 6, 1860, Abraham Lincoln went from Springfield Lawyer to United States President, despite not being on the ballot in 10 states. Fast forward 150 years to today. As part of the Veteran's Weekend put on by the Bergen County Historical Society (BCHS), Lincoln addressed a small crowd of history buffs in the historic Steuben House in River Edge. Of course, it wasn't really Lincoln, but an impressive version of him played by New Jersey resident Bob Costello. As you walk into the Steuben House, the oldest part of which was built in 1752, you can feel its antiquity.
