Hurricane Sandy may have blown its way through River Dell about three weeks ago, but the effects are still impacting the day-to-day business in River Edge as the Council rejected the lone bid for a set of ADA doors to the police station. The bid, while received on Oct. 12, then sat in a safe until early Novemeber, as Borough Hall was without power for almost a full week. After receiving a Community Development Block Grant to install ADA compliance doors to the River Edge Police Station and Borough Hall, a lack of bids now stalls the project
Twice the borough of River Edge has sought bids for new ADA compliant doors for the police station and borough hall and both times has received zero responses. Now the town will seek clarification from the Community Development Block Grant program, which has supplied the funding, on whether the governing body could negotiate with a contractor. "We had nine vendors pick up the packets but none actually bid on the project itself," borough administrator Alan Negreann said.
