Built on the border of Oradell and New Milford, St. Joseph Church is a Roman Catholic Parish in the Archdiocese ofMore Newark. Because the church was built on the border, it has the distinction of serving both communities with the rectory on land from New Milford and the church in Oradell. St. Joseph built the first Catholic school in the area with an elementary school in 1939 and expanded the school in 1957.

Oradell Police Department

The Oradell Police Department, comprised of 20 officers patrol the streets of Oradell to keep its' residents safe.More Officers are split between the Patrol and Detective divisions, and work in rotational shifts.

The Patrol Division responds to calls for assistance and are CPR and first-aid trained. Several of the Patrol Division officers work with school-age children in the D.A.R.E. program.

The Detective Bureau investigates major felonies and interviews victims, witnesses and potential suspects during their investigations. The Detective Bureau also supports the Patrol Division. Members of the Detective Bureau are available Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm and on-call at all other times.

Region 5 coordinator Maureen Kerne works with school districts. Regularly scheduled conferences are held for teachers and administrators through Region 5.

While the Region 5 main office is located in Oradell, the group of staff members serves the following school districts across Northern New Jersey: Bergenfield, Cresskill, Dumont, Hackensack, New Milford, Oradell, River Dell, Ridgefield, River Edge, Rochelle Park, Teaneck and Tenafly.

Bergen Catholic High School

Led by the Christian Brothers and part of the Archdiocese of Newark, Bergen Catholic High School officially opened inMore September 1955. Bergen Catholic last expanded in 1989 to include a weight training facility for the Crusaders. Students also have access to a large library, student chapel, science laboratories, cafeteria, computer science laboratory and gymnasium. Several of the Crusaders athletic teams compete at the nearby Crusader Stadium.

River Dell Middle School

After sixth grade graduation from either the River Edge or Oradell school district, students from both schools moveMore to River Dell Regional Middle School for seventh and eighth grade.

Class is in session from 8:05am to 2:40pm and is broken up into 10 class periods. The middle school is a New Jersey "Star School."

St Joseph School

St. Joseph School is a part of St. Joseph Church. It has a Lower School for prekindergarten through fourth gradeMore located in Oradell, while grades five through eight attend classes across the street in the Upper School in New Milford.

The Upper School was built in 1939 and the Lower School was constructed in 1957. Classes are held for regular and special education students from kindergarten and up. Students in kindergarten are split between an all-day, extended day and transition programs. The transition program allows for kindergarten-age students to spend an extra year in school prior to beginning regular schooling.

Students at the Lower School are escorted each morning from the car to the entrance by Principal Colette Vail. And each year, during Catholic Schools Week, the eighth grade class competes in an annual volleyball game against faculty members.
