Feaster, Kulcsar Lead Crusaders Over Paladins, 35-21

In the second annual Turkey Bowl between Bergen Catholic and Paramus Catholic, multiple turnovers proved costly for the Paladins as the Crusaders roared to a 35-21 victory and effectively shut down PC's wildcat formation.

Utilizing the Wildcat early on in the game worked against the Paladins as John Feaster nabbed the first turnover and Jon Germano made quick work steamrolling the Crusaders down field with three consecutive throws to JJ Kulscar for a five-play touchdown as James Dawson shouldered his way in for a one-yard touchdown.

Jabrill Peppers woul take off on a 75-yard run across the dirt field to tie the game out of the wildcat. The four-man powerhouse unit of Germano, Kulscar, Feaster and Dawson made easy work of Paramus Catholic's defense to lead 14-7 at the end of the first.

PC's Peppers provided two additional touchdowns on Thursday afternoon, both out of the wildcat on 60 and 1-yard runs but the magic ended there as Kyle Quiero, Phil Rigoglioso, Kurt Holuba and Jack Campbell pressured Peppers and PC quarterback Steve Shanley out of the pocket.

Germano would run in a touchdown with just a minute until the half as BC surged ahead 21-14. The Crusaders picked up where they left off in the second half as Kulscar pulled in a three-yard pass followed by Feaster rolling in the endzone with a 26-yard catch.

Pulling ahead 35-14, the Crusaders continued to benefit from the Paladins who were plagued by approximately 10 penalties for just shy of 100 yards. Quiero also came up with two huge interceptions as he picked off Shanley's throws downfield.

Paramus Catholic attempted an onside kick to build momentum with three minutes left in the game, but Feaster once again was vital in shutting the Paladins down as he buried the ball into the ground. BC would then eventually run out the clock to win 35-21.

The Crusaders won the first annual Thanksgiving game last season by a 58-36 margin in Oradell. In 32 meetings between the Crusaders and Paladins, Bergen has dominated the series 30-2 as Paramus Catholic has only beaten their rivals twice, first in 1976 (10-8) and again in 2006 (18-16).

Next Friday Nov. 30, Bergen Catholic will face archrival Don Bosco Prep in the Non Public Group 4 semifinals in Ramsey at 7pm. The Ironmen suffered a 20-10 loss on Thanksgiving to St. Joseph of Montvale. Paramus Catholic will host the St. Peter's Prep Marauders on Saturday, Dec. 1, 1pm in their semifinal round.
