DIGS Red Spikes Competition in DC

The club team of North Jersey high school athletes recently claimed the Capitol Hill Classic tournament title this past week

The DIGS 17 Red Club Volleyball team, comprised primarily of local north jersey high school girls, continues to raise the bar on the East Coast. Three tournaments to date in this Club Season and three first place finishes!

The most recent occurred over the Presidents’ Day weekend in Washington, D.C. as the club team competed in the 17 Open Division of the Capitol Hill Classic, a major East Coast Volleyball tournament. There were 48 teams from 10 different states competing in this Elite Division.

The DIGS team won every match compiling a total game record of 18-1 on their way to winning the championship. Nia Reed (IHA) was named tournament “MVP” and “Best Attacker” and Mallary McFadden (Albert Magnus) was named tournament “Best Server”.

DIGS Red is comprised of Reed, McFadden, Zoe Edelman (Leonia), Kalette deMarrais (River Dell), Lily Scanzillo (Northern  Highlands), Alex Garrett (Northern Highlands), Samantha Alechko (Old Tappan), Larysa Iwaskiw (IHA) Emily Guzman (Clifton), Emily Kolodka (Holy Angels), Alyssa Kelly (Delaware Valley), and Taylor Braunagel (Delaware Valley).
