River Dell High Teacher is a Presidential Award Finalist

RDHS chemistry teacher Carrie Jacobus is one of five in the state nominated for the prestigious award.

River Dell High School is proud to call her one of their own.

Carrie Jacobus has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). The chemistry teacher is one of five in New Jersey on the secondary level to be so nominated, according to a report in NorthJersey.com.

Jacobus has been at RDHS since 2006. Her list of achievements is impressive: she is a contributing author on three chemistry inquiry books, an internationally exhibited fiber artist, and teaches AP Chemistry, Honors Organic Chemistry, and Honors Chemistry this year at RDHS.

If chosen, Jacobus will represent New Jersey when she goes to Washington, D.C. to meet the president and receive a $10,000 National Science Foundation award, NorthJersey.com reported.
