Oradell Public Schools' Superintendent Search Is Underway

Interim Superintendent Lawrence Hughes says a successor should be hired prior to the end of this school year.

The hunt for a new superintendent of schools for the Oradell Public Schools is on, says Interim Superintendent Lawrence V. Hughes.

"Our superintendent search has officially begun," he said, "with the closing date for applications of qualified candidates set for January 24."

Hughes said that members of the Oradell Board of Education will work over the  next 10-12 weeks to review resumes and interview candidates. The hopefuls determined to be the best qualified from the applicant pool will come back for final interviews, background checks and the school board's selection.

"Our target plan is to appoint the candidate in the spring, followed by school and community introductions and welcome activities, with a preferable start date before the close of school to further support a successful transition for the 2014-2015 school year," said Hughes.

The interim superintendent said the district will keep the public informed as the process to find a permanent schools chief progresses.
