Loehr, Hughes Featured on Student Director's Cut

New episode of MSG Varsity's Student Director's Cut highlights work done by River Dell duo Korey Loehr and Troy Hughes

Nerds are tougher than they may seem in River Dell duo Korey Loehr and Troy Hughes production "Tough Nerds" which will be aired at 12pm this afternoon during MSG Varsity's second installment of “Student Director’s Cut” on Channel 14.

“Student Director’s Cut”, a new series devoted exclusively to original, student-produced films, invites each student-director to host and introduce his or her respective film. 

“One of the core missions of MSG Varsity is providing a platform to celebrate the wide variety of talent and creativity within our area high schools,” said Michael Lardner, Senior Vice President & Executive Producer, MSG Varsity. “We are thrilled that ‘Student Director’s Cut’ will provide so many talented young storytellers with an outlet to showcase their work to a wide audience, as well as give their insight into the creative process.”

"Tough Nerds" explores what can make these self-proclaimed nerds so tough.

Along with Loehr and Hughes, the show will feature original pieces from student-directors at Jackson Liberty (NJ) HS; Pequannock Township (NJ) HS; John Jay East-Fishkill (Dutchess County, NY); and Baldwin Senior (NY) HS.

Jackson Liberty high school student Victoria Nelli, directed “I Hate My Boyfriend”, a country music video put together by a group of the school’s students.

Sal Carubba of Pequannock High School along with several alumni rap about common lunchtime food in “Chicken Patty Rap & Chicken Nugget Rap.” While Casey Silvestri of John Jay Senior High School directs "Socumentary", a film that reveals what happens when you fall asleep.

Rounding out the show will be “I Think I’m Crazy,” a music video directed by Baldwin High School student Vinnie DiCarlo.
