Crusader's Senior Picks Up Scholarship from SFIC

Norwood resident Connor Von Cleave was awarded the scholarship during a basketball tournament last weekend

Bergen Catholic senior Connor Von Cleave may currently holdthe Crusaders title of free throw stat leader with a perfect record from the foul line, but the Norwood resident got an added bonus last weekend. Von Cleave received a scholarship fund following the January 6 Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children Basketball Festival at Kean University.

“All I can say is a very sincere thanks to all of our sponsors and fans,” said Gerry O’Connor, Executive Director of the SFIC. “While this has been a fun event for the Scholarship Fund for Inner-City Children, it also gave us the opportunity to promote our mission which is to provide low income families with the financial resources for an educational alternative so their children can attend private and parochial schools in Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union County.”

The 6'2" forward is a two-year varsity starter with the red and gold, though he appeared twice on the court during his sophomore year. He is currently averaging 2.5 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
