Acquafredda was born in Italy and moved to the United States with his family as a teenager. He graduated from City College of New York (CCNY) in 1978 with Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Architecture Degrees and obtained his Architectural license in New York State in 1983 and in New Jersey State in 1994

He is a member of the American Institute of Architects and of the New Jersey Northern League of Architects. Employed with CSR Group in Nutley NJ as Project Executive in Design and Construction in the field of Architecture with over 30 years of experience. He and his wife Francesca moved to River Edge from Fort Lee in 1987 and have two children Anthony (Muhlenberg 2007) and Emanuela Lucia (The George Washington University 2011)

He was nominated to the River Edge Zoning Board of Adjustment in 1994 and served on it until 2010, ending a 16 year run of service the Borough while deliberating on hundreds of applications; held elected Chairman and Vice-Chair of the Zoning Board for several years. He was nominated in 2012 and currently a Class IV member of the River Edge Planning Board.

Acquafredda has served on the River Edge Traffic and Safety Committee and is an elected Trustee of the River Dell Regional School District grades 7-12 since 2002, served 3 years as President and 3 years as Vice-President. On the Board of Education he has been named to and chaired several committees including Referendum, Curriculum, Building and Grounds, Athletics, Campus Facilities, Policy, Community Relations and Contract Negotiations and Chief School Administrator search Committee. He is a member of New Jersey State School Board Nominating Committee and of the State Delegates Assembly representing Bergen County and a certified Master Board Member based on Board Education Credits received.

He coached River Edge Little League Teams while his son played in the system, joined River Edge Recreation Soccer Program and the Black Hawks Travel Team and stayed on as coach of Boys teams from 1991 through 2003. Member of the board of each club and president of each organization. Liaison between the local soccer organizations and the River Dell School Scholarships Awards. Level seven (7) Soccer Referee and Level D soccer coaching license by USSFA. Member Saint Peter Apostle  Parish: held stewardship of time positions to serve as called upon.
