RiverDell Official Election Guide

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday to decide among three council candidates for the two available seats. This will also be the first ever November Board of Education election and while most of the races are uncontested, two Oradell residents are seeking the lone open seat on the Regional Board of Education. There are county and state seats up for election and of course, the Presidential election to decide on.

Polls open in River Edge and Oradell at 6 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6. Click here for the full recap on poll locations and district information. You can also find your polling location and summary ballot here.

River Edge Republican council incumbents Paul Cordts and Anthony Cappola are seeking re-election to the second and first full terms. They face challenger Vito Acquafredda.

Oradell council members Donna Alonso and James Koth are running unopposed.

Also running unopposed are River Edge Board of Education members Gyuchang Sim, Colin Busteed and Wendy Walker; River Dell Board of Ed members Joe Manzelli and Claudia O'Neill (representing River Edge); Oradell Board of Education members Katherine Norian, Christine Robertson and first time candidate Andrew Oddo.

Michael Gardner and Patrick Gallagher are battling for the lone open Oradell seat on the Regional Board of Education.

New Jersey voters won’t just be choosing the next president on Election Day —the state has two questions on the ballot that could have an impact on your wallet. The referendum questions deal with extra funding for colleges’ infrastructure and benefits payments for judges.

River Edge voters will see a third referendum question on their ballot as well - should the borough establish a municipal trust fund for recreation and conservation? The Open Space Trust Fund was voted down last November 1,136 to 1,013 after a portion of the funding had been used for the two prior years to cover the salary and wages of three DPW workers who oversee the maintenace of the parks.

There are 5,784 registered voters in Oradell and 7,001 in River Edge. During the last presidential election, Oradell was split 2,245 to 2,491 between Obama supporters and John McCain's. River Edge was likewise a mixed bag with 2,965 voting for Obama and 2,577 in favor of McCain.
