Elm Street Bridge Update

Repair work has resumed on the Elm Street Bridge, still no date for reopening.

Oradell's Borough Engineer, Marisa Tiberi, informed the council during its work session Tuesday that although there is no date for the re-opening of the Elm Street Bridge, it is close to completion.

According to Tiberi, there are a few outstanding items that need to be completed. The main outstanding item is the pedestrian walkway that is essential for the bridge to reopen, but has not yet been installed. Other outstanding items include the completion of striping and crosswalks.

During its July meeting, Tiberi informed the council that the repair project was 'significantly delayed' because the contractor halted work and was unresponsive to county engineers.

However, work has resumed and, although the county has no firm date set for the reopening of the Elm Street Bridge, it appears to be near completion.
