A Paramus man was critically injured Friday night when he was struck by a drunk driver after stopping to come to the aid of a second drunk driver who had crashed her car into a pole, authorities said.

The incident occured around 2:15 a.m. Friday on Forest Avenue in Paramus. A woman, Rebecca Wright, 21, of Paramus, was driving a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta under the infuence of alcohol when she crashed into a utility pole, Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said in the release.

Fallah pulled over next to Wright, exited his grey 2005 Toyota Corolla and called 911, authorities said.

As Fallah stood between the two cars, a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta struck him and the cars, according to the statement. Fallah suffered serious injuries to his lower extremities and head and was in critical condition at Hackensack University Medical Center.

If convicted of the assault charge, Komporlis faces up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Bail was set at $50,000 with a 10 percent cash option. He remained in police custody as of Saturday morning.
