Ed Trinkleback: From Army Air Corps to Wedding Photographer

Edward Trinkleback Sr., 91, of Oradell died recently having spent his life wearing a wide variety of hats

With his camera by his side, Edward Trinkleback Sr., had been a familiar face thoughout Oradell whether he was photographing weddings or participating in the borough's annual Fourth of July parade with the Army Air Force Historical Association (AAFHA). Trinkleback, 91, a former resident of Bergenfield for 55 years, died peacefully at home in Oradell with family at his side.

He began working with a camera while serving in the US Army Air Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater, with the 36th Photo Recon Squadron. Sgt. Trinkleback flew with the 5th Air Force over Hollandia in New Guinea, Biak in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan.

Upon his honorable discharge in 1945, Edward resumed his job as a printing pressman at the Continental Folding Paper Box Company in Ridgefield where he worked for 38 years, and spent most of his weekends as a wedding photographer, having proudly photographed over 1000 ceremonies until 1972.

Before retiring in 1994, he was also a facility supervisor with Great Bear Spring Co., in Teterboro, and a customer service rep. with Health Waters, Inc. in Carlstadt. While a parishioner at St. John’s RC Church in Bergenfield, Trinkleback was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and the Bergenfield VFW. He was also an avid Ham radio operator, and until recently, was an active member of the Army Air Force Historical Association (AAFHA).

Predeceased by wife Evelyn (nee) Sharpe, he is survived by their children Evelyn Butzel and her husband Bruce of Oradell, Edward Trinkleback Jr. and his wife Jeannette of River Edge, and Karen Rauch and her husband Joseph of Oradell. Also survived by grandchildren Elaine, Evonne, Erick, Anne Marie, Jennifer, Edward, Victoria, and Carolyn; great-grandchildren Cortney, Britney, David, Amanda, Joseph, and James as well as fice nieces and nephews. He was predceased by his brother Harry Trinkleback.

Visitation services are schedule for Friday, June 15 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at , 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. Funeral service from the funeral home on Saturday at 9am and then to in River Edge, for a 10am Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
