A Mother of a Day

The gift of being a mother and sayings that describe the task!

I've been instructed to "look nice". Nothing else about Mothers Day is any of my concern. My heart takes a leap at the idea of something special. I've already cried at the song that was put to paper  & the flowers that were bought with considerable care at the school fundraiser. I'm already satisfied.

I'm grateful for the gift of motherhood, an attestation of my femaleness. I wondered if I would ever have a child and be able to conceive. Most of us think about this at some point. Is the plumbing connected properly and working? When motherhood was announced the transformation ensued. Amazement at the feat of creation. Gratitude for such a gift. Disbelief that I should be so lucky.

My daughter teaches me to love psychedelic blue nail polish, glitter and sneakers with flashing lights. We master the ski-slopes together and I marvel at her braveness. She helps me try harder and feel younger. I swim like a fish in my mind as I watch my daughter's flawless backstroke. A joyful childhood that both of us share. I'm grateful to her for sharing it with me. I wonder if other mothers are moved by the same things as me. What gifts has motherhood bestowed on you?
