My Journey to Becoming an Entrepreneur

I 'll share with you the lessons I've learned in my journey to becoming an entrepreneur.

You can call me a reluctant entrepreneur. I pursued my MBA in finance with my eye towards continuing my upward trajectory on Wall Street, but by chance I took an entrepreneur class to fill credits towards my degree. I wasn't interested in becoming an entrepreneur and the class just confirmed that I didn't want to take that huge risk of starting my own business given that over 50% of small businesses fail in the first five years. I did, however, enjoy creating the business plan since I love working with numbers.

Turn time forward twenty years, and I am now an entrepreneur and loving it. I haven't hit my five year mark yet for my business, but so far so good.  I’ve discovered that my background as an Equity Research Analyst is a vital asset.  I’ve spent all those years analyzing companies of every type and projecting their financials.  This has allowed me to critically look at my own company and confidently plan its fututre direction.

In future blog articles, I plan to share with you the lessons I’ve learned in my journey to becoming an entrepreneur. I love sharing strategies with fellow small business owners.  Let me know your thoughts!
