Growing in the Garden: "The A,B,Cs of Apples" & "Hungry Before Hibernation?"

The A, B, Cs of Apples

Two hundred years ago Mr. George Macculloch began a plan for an apple orchard on his land. On Tuesday, November 5 from 1:15 to 2 p.m. children 3 to 5 years old and their caregivers can come to Macculloch Hall Historical Museum and find out what Mr. Macculloch did with the apples he grew.  Children will hear Görel Kristina Näslund’s “Our Apple Tree” which shows the changes an apple tree goes through during the four seasons.  Visit the garden at Macculloch Hall to find the remaining apple trees from the orchard to see if the trees are bearing fruit this year.  Children will make a personalized apple tree growth chart so they can compare how they grow with how an apple tree grows.

“Growing in the Garden” is a year-round program meeting twice a month at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum.  The program lasts 45 minutes from 1:15pm – 2pm.  There are limited spaces, pre-registration is required.  The cost for the program is $8 per pair (child and caregiver) for Museum members and $12 per pair for non-members.  There is a $5 discount for pre-paid registration on four sessions. Call (973) 538-2404 ext. 16 or email cwinslow@maccullochhall.org to pre-register.  For details on the education programs or any of the other programs offered by Macculloch Hall Historical Museum or to purchase a membership which offers a variety of benefits including discounts on programs please visit maccullochhall.org
