Week In Review: Tax Assessments Concerns Continue, Funding for Waterworks

Several River Edge realtors came out in force along with homeowners on Monday night to speak out against the in River Edge to the Mayor and Council as well as Tax Assessor James Anzevino. While no one in the audience was happy, the realtors stressed their concerns that going forward few homes in the borough will actually be sold.

After months of speculation and contention surrounding the possible transfer of the $500,000 allocated to the Waterworks project to Saddle River,  that the funds remain dedicated to the Waterworks project on Tuesday. His decision was approved by the entire Freeholder Board the following day.

After just celebrating its 70th success story and opening its newest location in Emerson, the River Edge-based Neighbors Helping Neighbors job seekers group got an added boost when District 38 Senator Robert Gordon swung by on Thursday and offered his support.

A River Dell student made it to the final seven at the North Jersey Spelling Bee at  on Thursday. The Regional district representative Indrani Das reached the seventh round before misspelling the word Edaphic.

After a  to not move forward with seeking a Rebuilding Together Bergen County grant application for repairs to the  building, Community Outreach Coordinator Lynn Buckingham met with the River Edge governing body on Monday evening to discuss what the group could do for the town.

Setting a modest goal of $3,000 in the first ever Jump Rope and Hoops for Hearts fundsraiser at , students exceeded that amount with the promise that gym teacher Matt Vassallo would come to school with a pink mohawk. St. Joseph students raised $6,531 for the American Heart Association.
