Week Ahead: Budget Hearings; Meet your Patch Editor

A look at what is coming up this week in River Dell

The River Dell, Oradell and River Edge Boards of Education will hold public hearings this week before approving their finalized school budgets. With the public vote in April removed, it will be the last chance for residents to voice an opinion on the school budgets.

The 's hearing at 8pm on Monday will again give an overview of the $30 million budget and the goal of bringing back .  is planning on installing new technology and replacing the rear courtyard wall through their $10.4 million budget after its presentation on Wednesday, 7:30pm at Borough Hall. The  is able to  that were previously on the chopping block under its $14.6 million budget with their hearing on Wednesday, 7:30pm at Cherry Hill.

The River Edge Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session on Monday to discuss what should be done with the unused property between Lincoln Avenue and Grove Street. The Oradell Mayor and Council meets at 7pm on Tuesday.

Scrimmages of the Week:

  • Hawks tennis is away on Monday to Fair Lawn and then home on Wednesday against Cresskill. Both matches start at 4pm.
  • Softball is home Monday against Northern Highlands, heads to Park Ridge on Wednesday, then returns home on Friday for Fair Lawn. Game time is 4pm.
  • Lady Hawks LAX is home Monday against Jefferson Township at 5pm and then on the road to Passaicy Valley on Thursday, 4pm.
  • Hawks Baseball takes the mound at home all week, drawing Paramus on Tuesday, Wood-Ridge on Wednesday and then Glen Rock on Friday. Game time is 4pm.
  • Hawks LAX is home all week as well with Wallkill Valley on Wednesday, 5pm and then Lenape Valley on Saturday, 12pm.
  • Crusaders LAX heads to DePaul in Wayne on Tuesday, 6pm and then returns hom on Thursday, 4pm against CBA. Bergen starts its season on Sunday, 11:15am at Don Bosco Prep for the Big City Classic.
  • Volleyball will get two final scimmages in with Memorial High School on Tuesday, 4:30pm (home) and then North Bergen on Thursday, 4pm (away) before starting the season with their home tournament, the Crusader Invitational on Saturday.
  • Bergen Catholic track starts their season on Saturday, 4pm at the Pawlowski Relays in Ridgewood.
