REPD Welcomes Third Rookie to Department

With heavy retirement around the corner, the River Edge Police Department had something to celebrate as Dumont-native Vincent Ariano became the department's third rookie of the year. He was officially sworn in on Monday night.

Foreclosure Sale Postponed Once Again; Mansion's Fate Remain Unknown

For the third time in two months, the Blauvelt Mansion's mortgage sale has yet again been postponed. The $3.7 million foreclosure sale was initially scheduled for this afternoon, but according to the Bergen County Sheriff's Office Foreclosure Sale Listings, the auction has now been rescheduled for January 4.

Starting the game with junior standout Jabrill Peppers in the Wildcat formation the Paramus Catholic Paladins took an early 7-0 lead over Bergen Catholic. Peppers carried the ball 19 times for 212 yards and two scores, but it was the work of Steve Shanley late in the game that sealed a title for the Paladins, Shanley completed all seven of his passes, including a tight spiral he lofted right into the hands of Tyrone Washington for a 55-yard touchdown down the sideline with 1:16 left in the game to lift Paramus Catholic,to a 37-34 victory over Bergen Catholic in the NJSIAA Non-Public, Group 4 final at MetLife Stadium. 

River Edge Considers Red Light Cameras

Seeking new and inovative ways to bring revenue into River Edge, borough officials prevously listened to a presentation by American Traffic Solutions (ATS) about installing red light cameras along Kinderkamack Road.

Kinderkamack Road Traffic Calming Measures in River Edge Coming

Plans to install 11 roadway stanchions along Kinderkamack Road and Midland Avenue should be completed by the end of the year in River Edge as borough officials look to make the main thoroughfaires safer to pedestrians.

Ice Hockey Has High Hopes for New Season

After last season's disappointing 6-17 campaign, the River Dell ice hockey team has decided that this is their year to shine. The Golden Hawks already got off to a great start by splitting their opening games with a 5-2 win over Hackensack and an 8-1 loss to Paramus Catholic.

Germano Named NJ 2012 Gatorade Football Player of the Year

Bergen Catholic senior quarterback and Hawthorne native Jonathan Germano has been named the 2012 Gatorade Football Player of the Year, the first such honor for a student-athlete in Bergen Catholic’s storied football program.
