River Edge Firefighters Provide Campers with Relief from the Heat

On one of the hottest days this week, campers get cool relief from the River Edge Fire Department.

With the heat index at 110 degrees Friday, even the campers at the River Edge Recreation Summer Camp in Memorial Park were finding it hard to have fun in the sun. Until River Edge firefighters arrived on the scene and turned the hoses on, showering campers and counselors with relief.

According to Chief John Mauthe, the camp participants, and some of the counselors, were able to cool themselves off in showers of hose spray provided by the firefighters of River Edge.

Campers were also given the opportunity to act as a "nozzleman" and use a hose line to knock over cones in some fun competition. The sweaty campers welcomed the cool refreshing break from their normal daily schedules.
