Purim and George Washington's Birthday Celebrations Scheduled for This Week

MONDAY: All Borough Offices are closed today for President's Day. Also all public schools are closed for winter break this week.

TUESDAY: The River Edge Mayor and Council have a 7pm work session where Tax Assessor Jim Anzevino will review the 2012 reassessment data in regards to the percentage of sales and the assessed value.

WEDNESDAY: Preschool Adventures at the Oradell Public Library kicks off at 10:30am for children three-and-a-half to five years old. The River Edge Library is hosting "Beaded Buddies" for borough children ages 8+ from 11:15am to 12pm where they can learn to string beads and create a colorful beaded buddy to take home.

THURSDAY:  The River Edge Planning Board is scheduled to hold an 8pm meeting.

THE WEEKEND: Join Temple Avodat Shalom for the 10am Megillah Reading for Purim on Sunday and then stay for the annual Youth Group Purim Carnival from 11am to 1pm. There will be games, prizes and refreshments.

Celebrate George Washington's Birthday with the Bergen County Historical Society during their Country Ball on Sunday, 1 to 5pm in the Steuben House. Under Denise Piccino’s direction, the Tricorne Ensemble will demonstrate 18th-century dances in the parlor while Ridley and Anne Enslow provide musical accompaniment on fiddle and hammered dulcimer. Rodger Yaden portrays General Washington. Hot cider and crullers wil lbe served in the tavern.
