River Edge PBA Comes to Retired Officer's Aid

Recently members of the River Edge PBA Local 201 assisted a fellow brother in need as they installed smoke detectors into Robert and Joann Talbot's Bogert Road home. The former US Marine Corps gunnery sergeant, Talbot spent several years with the Teaneck Police, eventually retiring in 1988 as a sergeant.

Compared to other areas up and down the Garden State, RiverDell escaped primarly unscathed from the worst effects of Hurricane Sandy and now the Regional High School students have committed to helping in anyway they can for the rest of the school year. The "Restore the Shore" efforts kicked off on Wednesday night with a combined costume dance in the cafeteria and collection drive.

A 49-year-old New York woman accused of killing her ex-boyfriend and a River Edge woman is being held on $3 million bail after her first court late last week. Monica Mogg, of Newburgh, N.Y., nor her attorney, David Goldstein, entered a plea on her behalf. She has been accused of shooting Arthur Noeldechen and stabbing Lillian Kim to death in a Millbrook Road home on Oct. 30 after stalking the couple for months.

As residents continue to return to a more normal routine following Hurricane Sandy, Oradell has announced that the borough will waive any permit fees for repairs and reconstruction due to damage sustained by Sandy.

Before the end of the month, River Edge will have voted on a Shade Tree Ordinance that has been in the works for almost five years. Introduced just before the Nov. 6 general election, the proposed ordinance could have its final vote for approval next Monday.

Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on.
