Oradell Public Library Offers Museum Pass Loan Program

Visit Oradell Library and "check out" passes to museums such as the American Museum of Natural History; the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum and more.

School may be out for the summer... but in Oradell the opportunity to learn and explore new interests will continue thanks to a new Museum Pass Loan Program operated by the Oradell Public Library and sponsored by the Friends of the Oradell Library.

Beginning this week, when town residents visit the library to borrow books, CDs, DVDs or other learning materials, they can also “check out” passes or tickets to many of the area’s most distinguished museums and cultural institutions, including the American Museum of Natural History; the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum; the Montclair Art Museum; and Storm King Art Center.

This new annual program was researched, funded and implemented with the generous support of Friends of the Oradell Library volunteers and donors. The launch was timed to coincide with summer, when many residents are taking time off from school or work and looking for new ways to explore hobbies and interests.

“We are thrilled to be able to add museum passes to the library’s catalog of information and education resources,” said John J. Trause, library director for the Oradell Public Library. “Our library serves such a diverse community — from artists and authors to scientists, scholars and, even, toddlers. With these passes, we are confident that we will be able to offer an experience for virtually every interest.”

According to George Carter, secretary and treasurer for the Friends of the Oradell Library, “This program is the direct result of the generosity of so many individuals, who provided the financial and volunteer support to make it happen. We hope that Oradell residents will be equally enthusiastic in putting the passes to use and that the program will remind patrons how important ‘friends’ are to our library’s future. The Friends of the Oradell Library are always happy to welcome new members.”.
