Holidays and Winter Tournaments Set for This Week

Here's a sneak peek of what's coming up in River Dell this week

MONDAY: Several area churches host Christmas Eve services inluding First Congregational, St. Joseph Church, St. Peter the Apostle and many others.

TUESDAY: Happy Holidays from Patch. All borough offices are closed today.

WEDNESDAY: Calling all ye princesses, princes, queens, kings, knights, and adults-in-waiting to the Oradell Library for a special royal storytime led by the court jester, Miss Robin at 11am. All young members of the court are welcome to dress in their finest royal outfits. At 1:30pm, scratch, scratch, scratch away and create your own unique bookmark designs. 

THURSDAY: The Oradell Library is in need of a few good superheroes at 11am to help return order to the Junior Room. If you are up for the mission, join us for a special superhero storytime. Budding superheroes are welcome to dress the part. Stick around for a hands-on workshop at 1:30pm and create your own superheroe and work through the basics of creating a comic book story. 

Holiday Tournaments

River Dell

The Golden Hawks will compete at Dwight Englewood for a Holiday Basketball Tournament on Dec. 27 against Bogota at 1pm and on Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 with opponents to be determined.

The Lady Hawks will be away at Union City HS for a Holiday Basketball Tournament, opening on Dec. 26, 11:30am against Paramus and additional games on Dec. 28 and Dec. 29. Opponents to be determined.

Ice Hockey heads to the Codey Arena in West Orange for the Codey Holiday Classic Blue Division, opening agianst West Orange on Dec. 26, 12:15pm. They will then face Morris Hills on Dec. 28, 4pm.

Wrestling in the BCCA George Jockish Holiday (County) Tournament will be held at Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY on Dec. 29 for 11am prelims and 4:30pm wrestlebacks and quarterfinals. The tournament continues on Dec. 30 with the 10:30am semifinals, 3pm third/fifth/seventh place matches and the 5pm finals.

Indoor track will be competing at the Track Universe Invitational at the Armory Track Center-NYC  on Dec. 28, 4pm.

Swimming heads into the Felix Festa pool on Dec. 29, 12:30pm against Old Tappan.

Bergen Catholic

Hockey again competes in the Pepsi Holiday Classic at the Ice Vault in Wayne with a 6:15pm game against Kinnelon on Dec. 26, Chatham on Dec. 28, 7pm, and concludes on Dec. 30, 5:15pm against St. Joseph of Metuchen.

Basketball will be out of state for the Cactus Jam Tourney in Arizona where the squad opens against Scottsdale Christian Academy, Dec. 26, 7:30pm. Additional games are scheduled for Dec. 28 and and Dec. 29.

Indoor track heads to the 168th Armory (NYC) on Dec. 30 for the NJCTC Relays at 5pm.
