Cooling Station Opens in Oradell Thursday and Friday

The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories and Oradell has opened a cooling center in the second floor meeting room at town hall.

The Oradell Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has announced that it will be opening up a cooling station in the second floor meeting room in Town Hall for residents to beat the heat. The National Weather Service (NWS) predicts the temperature on Thursday to be 99 degrees, with the heat index making it feel like 116 degrees.

The station will be open both Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. OEM is reporting that the high temperatures are expected to break sometime Saturday when a cold front approaches the area. Severe weather is possible Saturday afternoon.

The NWS suggests you drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioned rooms and out of the sun, check in with relatives and neighbors, and do most of your strenuous activity in the early morning or evening. Please keep pets cool and hydrated as well.
