Bergen Catholic's Jacobsen Named National High School Golf Coach of the Year

Bergen Catholic golf coach, Jim Jacobsen ’66, has been selected by the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) as the National High School Boys Golf Coach of the Year for 2013.

Jacobsen has been the head golf coach at BC for thirty-one seasons, and reached a historic coaching milestone this past spring when he claimed his 900th coaching victory in his career--the first golf coach to reach this coaching landmark in New Jersey history.

During his coaching tenure in Oradell, Jacobsen has led the Crusaders to five Tournament of Champions titles, seven Non-Public A state crowns, and a total of sixty-six league, district, invitational, and county championships. His overall coaching record currently stands at (917-31-1), with a win percentage of 97%.

Jacobsen was named the 2013 Golf Coach of the Year by both The Star Ledger and The Record, and BC was named the 2013 North Jersey Team of the Year after winning the North Non-Public A sectional state championship and finishing second overall in the state at the Tournament of Champions.

The NHSCA is a non-profit service organization founded in 1989 to provide leadership and support for the nation’s one million high school coaches and ten million high school athletes. The NHSCA selects National Coaches and Senior Athletes of the Year in twenty two boys and girls sports. Coach Jacobsen will be honored at the NHSCA Hall of Fame Museum in Easton, PA.
