Funny Valentine

Whatever the size, shape or variety your Valentine's Day treats come in, they are delivered with friendship and love. I'll never forget this funny -- and heartfelt -- Valentine gift.

Last year, I received one of the best valentines on this special day, and it wasn't from my husband.

Among the pretty flowers, cards and little treats I got from him and the kids as a sign of love and affection, I received a most funny Valentine. Of all things, it was a fully cooked pot roast dinner.

I first heard about this heartfelt gift when my cell phone rang as I was unloading my car full of groceries. I cradled the phone with one hand while carrying two heavy bags with the other. A friendly voice greeted me. "Happy Valentine's Day," announced my friend. "I made you a pot roast with carrots, potatoes and gravy. So you don't have to cook tonight."

I was truly touched. After all, my BFF is a busy woman and has no time like the rest of us. I rushed over to her house to pick up my gift, wrapped and ready to go.

I didn't have the heart to tell my generous friend that we planned to order pizza that night to celebrate the holiday, but we did enjoy the roast and all its fixings the following night. Everyone loved it, me most of all. Any day I don't have to cook is a special treat.

I'll always remember that gift of friendship. What was your favorite gift of love? Happy Valentine's Day!
