County Hosts Job Fair at Bergen Community College Tuesday

County brings together employers to help local residents find work.

Bergen County Executive Kathleen A. Donovan announced that Bergen County will be hosting a job fair on Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Bergen Community College. The fair will take place in the Gymnasium and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There is no charge to attend the fair. 100 employers are expected to attend, including the Bergen County Health Department.

“Our last job fair that was held in March was a great success,” Donovan said. “By gathering businesses from both Bergen and surrounding counties, we are able to help local residents find work, while helping companies fill job openings with skilled talent.”

Donovan assigned Deputy Chief of Staff Peter Incardone with the job of county organizer for the job fair.

“We are the victims of our successes," said life-long educator Incardone. “The March response was so tremendous that the County Executive wanted us to organize a third fair this summer.”

Incardone has assembled a formidable team, including several key Bergen County entities working in a cohesive manner to help those in need. “In this economy, all levels of government have an obligation to assist the underemployed and unemployed in finding gainful employment.”

Registration for the fair and the many workshops is encouraged, and job seekers should visit the job fair webpage at: http://bergencountyjobfair09-10-es2.eventbrite.com/?rank=8 to secure a slot. Up-to-date information will also be posted on the County Facebook page (www.facebook.com/bergengov) and the County website (www.co.bergen.nj.us).

“We are pleased with the responses we have had and thank our many sponsors, participating businesses and Bergen Community College President Dr. B. Kaye Walter for once again hosting the fair,” Donovan said.

Additional fair sponsors include: Manufacture NJ, Bergen County Economic Development Corp., Bergen WIB, Bergen County One-Stop, Jobs4Jersey(NJDOL), Inserra Supermarkets Inc., and North Jersey Media Group.

Those attending should come prepared with plenty of resumes and should dress appropriately. Companies will be looking to fill full-time, part-time and seasonal positions.
