River Edge Men's Softball Playoffs This Week

Doubleheaders Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday; Championship Thursday.

It's playoff week for the River Edge Men's Softball League with the first round kicking off Monday night. There will be doubleheaders Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by the Championship Thursday night. Wednesday's game will be followed by a free barbecue for players and fans.

According to Bob Smith who runs the league website, the season ended the defending champion Brewers edging out the Yankees for the top seed in this year's playoffs.

The first round gets underway Monday night at 7 p.m. at KBG as the 2nd seeded Yankees (8-2) host the #7 Marlins (4-8). The nightcap on Monday features the top-seeded Brewers (11-2) taking on the Red Sox (0-11) who rallied from a 10-1 deficit in their regular season finale against the Angels only to fall short and complete their "imperfect" regular season with a 10-8 defeat.

The Cardinals (7-6) will start off Tuesday's action against the #6 Dodgers (5-8) at 7 p.m. The first round conludes with the #4 Angels taking on the 5th seeded Twins. The winner of that contest will meet the Brewers/Sox victor on Wednesday at 7 p.m., with the other semi-final pitting the the winners of the Yankees/Marlins and Cardinals/Dodgers games against each other. The Championship Game will be Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
