Oradell Commits to Road Improvement Program

Eight roads designated to be paved with funds from a bond ordinance, three additional roads to be improved through DOT grant.

The governing body of Oradell approved a $1.5 million bond ordinance at their meeting Wednesday that will allow for the paving and improvement of the following eight borough roads:

  •  Village Road
  • East Drive Section I
  • Birchtree Lane
  • High Street
  • Commander Black Drive
  • Delford Avenue
  • Glenside Court East
  • Herbert Street
According to Borough Administrator Laura Graham, the Borough also received a $150,000 Dpt. of Transportation grant to begin paving and improvements on the following three streets:
  • Shaefer
  • John
  • Atlantic--section II

Graham said that the council is committed to ensuring the sustainability of the municipal infrastructure, which is why they have embarked on the aggressive multi-phase sewer rehabilitation project.

According to Graham, the governing body has identified that the municipal roads are as important to maintain as the sewers and have funded the road program for 2013 for $600,000. Previously, the amount allocated in the budget for road improvements was $200,000.
