St. Peter Academy Raises Money for American Heart Association

St. Peter Academy, the co-sponsored school of St. Peter the Apostle Parish in River Edge and Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Maywood, raised $3,100 during its annual Jump Rope For Heart, a national education and fundraising event sponsored by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The money raised by the students will be used by the AHA for research, education, advocating for better health, improving patient care and reaching populations at risk.

During the event, Academy students jumped rope, hula hooped, played basketball and participated in a Zumba class. Students also learned how to improve their overall health andto help other children with health-related issues. In addition, volunteers took each student’s blood pressure and explained how good health affects a person’s heart.
