Spencer Savings Bank Donates Time and Resources to Support Paterson Habitat for Humanity

Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., contributed a total of $2,000 to Paterson Habitat for Humanity through its participation in the non-profit organization’s 2013 Corporate Challenge.  For the sixth consecutive year, along with the bank’s donation, a team of seven Spencer Savings Bank employees took part in one of the organization’s Build Days on June 5, 2013, helping to build three new homes in Paterson, N.J.

In full support of Paterson Habitat for Humanity’s goal to provide affordable housing that is energy-efficient, environmentally responsible and economical to maintain, Spencer’s team of employees spent the day cleaning walls and priming rooms to be painted, while working to ensure the site’s readiness for future families. Upon completion, the housing unit will meet Energy Star Level Climate Choice green building standards and will be certified LEED Platinum, the highest score possible under the U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Homes.

“We are thrilled to again take part in Habitat for Humanity’s Corporate Challenge and show our support for Paterson Habitat for Humanity,” said Janel Bazih, Marketing Manager and Assistant Vice President of Spencer Savings Bank. “The organization’s Corporate Challenge is a great program that gives our dedicated employees the opportunity to join efforts with fellow corporate volunteers, who all share a common goal to strengthen their local communities. We are proud to support the organization’s efforts and help build new homes for families in need.”
