More Than 600 Local Residents Help Spencer Savings Bank Kick Off Its Annual Movies Under the Stars Series

Spencer Savings Bank, a community bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., kicked off its Movies Under the Stars series on Friday, June 21, 2013, at the Belmont Oval, in Garfield, N.J., attracting more than 600 community residents. 

Spencer Savings Bank partnered with the Garfield YMCA to host the showing of the feature film “Escape from Planet Earth,” a 2013 Canadian 3-D computer-animated family film that takes place on the planet Baab, and follows the journey of the admired astronaut, Scorch Supernova, who serves as a hero to the blue alien population. Admission to the event was complimentary, and moviegoers enjoyed freshly popped popcorn, hot dogs, pizza, Italian ices, and cold beverages. Additional entertainment was provided for the local attendees, including bounce houses and the opportunity for children to get their faces painted.

“As a community bank, we are continuously looking for ways to unite the communities we serve, and our Movies Under the Stars series is an ongoing program that we look forward to each year,” said José B. Spencer Savings Bank’s upcoming Movies Under the Stars events include a movie night in Nutley, N.J., on September 6, an event in Wallington, N.J., on September 13, an event in Westfield, N.J., on September 20, 2013, and an event in Elmwood Park, N.J., on September 20.
