The Oradell Public Library, Book Club will next meet on Tuesday, July 26, 11am for "The Space Between Us" by Thrity Umrigar. This is the poignant story about a wealthy woman and her downtrodden servant, which gives a revealing look at class and gender roles in modern day Mumbai (Bombay), India. The St. Joseph's Leisure Club of Oradell and New Milford meets on the third Wednesday of each month at the Knights of Columbus Hall on River Road, New Milford. Membership is open to all residents. The group will be taking a trip to Resorts Casino on August 10. The bus will leave from the KoC Hall at 9am and return at 8pm. Cost is $24 with cash back. The Oradell-Emerson Rotary Club meets Wednesdays, 7:30am at the United Water Building, 1st floor seminar room, 700 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. The Oradell Senior Social Club meets at 11am on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at the Senior/Veteran's Memorial building. The club is also hosting the following trips: August 18 to Broadway Westchester Theatre to see "Altar Boyz" (cost is $60). For more information, call 201-483-8633.
The River Edge Girls Athletic League provides recreational sports for girls living or attending school in River Edge. The Board of Directors meets the second Monday of every month at 8pm in the public meeting room at Borough Hall. Please join us! The Neighbors Helping Neighbors - Career Transition and Support Group meets every Thursday at 7pm in the River Edge Public Library. Meetings have also expanded to the Cresskill Library on Wednesdays, 7pm; Bergenfield Library on Tuesdays, 7pm (beginning July 12); and Hackensack Library on Wednesdays, 7pm (beginning August 3).
The Oradell, River Edge, New Milford Rotary Club meets on Tuesdays, 12:15pm at Cool Beans. The Oradell Lions meets on the first and third Wednesdays at Gregory Ts in Emerson at 7pm.
The Junior Women's Club of River Edge, Oradell and New Milford is always looking for new members. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 8 p.m. in the Oradell Borough Hall second floor. For more information call 201-225-1177 or email email@example.com.
The Army Air Forces Historical Association is an active living history group that participates in air shows, historic retrospects, educational progrmas and seminars providing static displays of World War II Army Air Forces memorabilia. Meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month at the Oradell Borough Hall at 10 a.m.
The Oradell Chamber of Commerce meets on the second Tuesday of the month in Felice's Restaurant at 12pm. The River Edge Chamber of Commerce meetings are held monthly, generally on the first Wednesday, at 12 noon. For more information, call 201-576-9400.
The Woman's Club of Oradell (a.k.a. The Book and Needle Club) meets on the first Friday of the month at the Westwood Woman's Club, 205 Kinderkamack Rd. Westwood. For membership information, contact Susan Chambers at 201-265-6282. The club will sponsor two juniors from River Dell High School to attend the Girls' Career Institute at Douglass College. It offers the students a "mini college experience", living in a dorm, eating in a cafeteria, attending lectures and workshops about careers for women.
The Apraxia Network of Bergen County is a grassroots nonprofit organization which gives support and resources to families of children diagnosed with Apraxia. Anyone is welcome to their weekly meetings on Wednesdays, 7 to 8:30pm at Temple Avodat Shalom, 385 Howland Avenue, River Edge.
The Temple Avodat Shalom Brotherhood holds Sunday morning breakfasts during the year to which the entire congregation is invited. Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
