Week Ahead: Superintendent Contract Up for Negotiations
A preview of the upcoming week in River Dell
This week the River Edge Board of Education is scheduled to meet at 7:30pm on July 10 to discuss renegotating Superintendent Dr. Tova Ben-Dov's contract for the 2010-15 school years. Ben-Dov was hired during the 2010 summer months after former Superintendent Erika Steinbauer retired after 25 years with the district. The former principal at the Maugham Elementary School in Tenafly has spent the past two years in River Edge leading a district that has faced heavy cuts in state aid. The meeting will be held at Cherry Hill.
During Wednesday's Oradell Board of Education meeting, 7:30pm at OPS, the board was initially scheduled to hold a board retreat with NJSBA representative Susan McCusker. Instead the board may discuss hiring new staff members on the administration level.
The Oradell Mayor and Council will have a work session meeting on Tuesday, 7pm at Borough Hall.
Throughout the week wrestlers from acroos Northern New Jersey will descend upon River Dell High School for the annual River Dell Duals, Monday through Wednesday, 5pm to 9pm. Along with the host Golden Hawks, wrestlers from North Bergen, Westwood, Emerson-Park Ridge, Old Tappan, Passaic Valley, Pascack Valley, Northern Highlands, Tenafly, Ramsey, Fair Lawn, Demarest, Hawthorne, Leonia-Palisades Park, and Ridgewood will take to the mat.
Over the weekend, the Art of Cake is hosting a 1000 cupcake giveway. If you haven't signed up already to be one of 250 judges, make sure to email owner Tammy Dunwoody early with your name and address to register.
Head to Cool Beans on Saturday at 8pm for live music with Rebecca Abma and Ian Charles. Americana singer-songwriter Ian Charles has been a touring musician for much of the last two decades. Rebecca Abma is a Christian singer-songwriter based in Bergen County, with a versitle voice that goes from angelic lilting to a bluesy growl. In 1999, she played her very first gig at Cool Beans and was a regular fixture in the Oradell cafe through 2001. She now returns "home" for this special night of music.
